What does our data mean
Where every generation raises the bar
At Macquarie Wagyu, data is more than a record of past performance. It is one of the tools that guides each breeding decision and helps us keep improving across generations. Every carcase result is recorded and analysed, including the results that sit at the very top end of the marbling scale. Under the AUS-MEAT grading system, any carcase assessed beyond Marble Score 9 is recorded as 9+. While that is an important benchmark, it can also group together animals with meaningful differences in marbling performance.
To better understand those differences within our own herd, Macquarie Wagyu assigns a numerical value of 10 to all 9+ results in our internal, independent carcase analysis. This allows us to calculate more accurate marbling averages and ensure elite-performing animals are properly reflected in the data.
These details matter. At the highest levels of Wagyu production, small differences can shape the next generation. By recording, analysing and applying this information, we can make more informed selection decisions and continue building genetics with greater consistency, predictability and long-term value.
Figures marked MW Marbling Average across this website are drawn from Macquarie Wagyu’s internal carcase records and are updated as new results become available. Published breed database figures may differ depending on submission timing and available records.
At the highest levels of Wagyu production, small differences can shape the next generation.

Foundation Sires
G0113
The ultimate all-round bull. Rare combination of producing high marbling, heavy carcases with above-average EMA. Extremely quiet temperament and magnificent phenotype. He has also proven to breed these traits on to both sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters.
G113 has helped reshape the Wagyu industry worldwide. G113 semen is rarely offered in Australia or Worldwide. We’re lucky enough to be able to say he is genuinely exclusive to a purchaser.

BDWFY0408
One of Macquarie Wagyu's foundation sires, Y408 left a lasting mark on the herd despite his passing nearly two decades ago. One of the older foundation bulls in Macquarie Wagyu herd. Y408 was a well above-average carcase bull whose greatest strength was producing outstanding breeding stock. His progeny are characterised by medium-sized carcases, above-average EMA and excellent fine marbling.

Our first G113 son retained for breeding on the strength of performance data of his sire and dam. An excellent carcase bull plus he breeds excellent males and females for breeding purposes. Industry comments are that his females are “phenomenal” and are highly sought after. The first of his progeny retained for breeding are now coming through and showing outstanding carcase results.

BDWFP1539
This bull was retained because of his parents performance date. His dam C1155 averaged 9.5ms and 440kg; sire 7.9ms and 450kg. P1539 has well and truly surpassed them both with his high marbling huge carcases.
He is also a great outcross to G113 and Y408 female cows.

A new step for macquarie wagyu
Emerging Poll Sires
SCRPS20J - SCW Macquarie Discovery
Our first heterozygous polled bull, Discovery, was bred through a joint venture with Southern Cross Wagyu in the USA and is sired by G113. When selecting a sire to produce our first polled Wagyu bull, G113 was the clear choice. Discovery also holds the distinction of being the world's first polled male sired by G113.
Discovery's dam, Bar R F104, is an exceptional female from Jerry Reeve's renowned Bar R breeding program. A direct daughter of the influential Bar R matriarch 16T, F104 was carefully selected to produce the first polled G113 sire due to her outstanding phenotype, structural size and proven maternal performance.
Like all G113 progeny, Discovery possesses an exceptionally quiet temperament. His flawless phenotype is highly sought after in both the Fullblood and Polled Wagyu sectors. Early carcase data has demonstrated excellent marbling combined with strong carcase weight.
